Learn what’s next for the Western Wisconsin Transmission Connection project

Xcel Energy filed an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) for the project in August 2024. The PSCW process begins with a review of the application to ensure it is complete and contains all the information the PSCW needs to fully review the project. As part of the initial review the PSCW will often request additional information and clarification, which they did in this case. Following review of the additional information Xcel Energy provided, the application was declared complete in late 2024 setting the stage for full review and public comment in 2025.

Xcel Energy is working with the PSCW and organizations that participate in project reviews on various administrative issues, and we expect public hearings on the project to be scheduled in mid-2025. Xcel Energy will work with PSCW staff to inform landowners and other stakeholders of the meeting schedule so they can attend and participate in the public process.
